The UK is currently using outdated methods to recycle textiles, which mean we are seeing mountains of unwanted clothes heading for landfills once they are sorted at the recycling plants.
The outputs from recycling aren’t always positive. Cars produce 14% of greenhouse gases around the world. When some textiles are recycled they are used to create soundproofing for cars, which produce harmful gases.
